Back to TaskTimer

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 7, 2026

TaskTimer ("the app") is published by Kynetics BSD ("we", "us"). In short: your tasks, timer settings and points stay on your device. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. To fix bugs and improve the app we collect anonymous usage, crash and performance data through Google Firebase, which you can turn off at any time in Settings → "Share usage & crash data".

1. What stays on your device

  • Your tasks (titles, details, links, deadlines, status), timer presets and settings, points, purchases of backgrounds, music, chimes and vibrations, and achievements are stored only on your device.
  • Focus, rest and deadline reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. We do not run a notification server and never receive them.
  • The home-screen widget reads the current timer from your device only.

2. What leaves your device

  • Jira import (optional, Pro). If you connect Jira, the Jira site address, Atlassian email and API token you enter are stored in your device's secure keychain (iOS/macOS Keychain, Android Keystore). When you tap Import, the app sends a request directly from your device to your Jira site to read the issues assigned to you. These requests never pass through Kynetics BSD and we never see your credentials or issues. Disconnecting in Settings removes the token from your device. Atlassian's own privacy policy applies to your Jira account.
  • Anonymous usage, crash and performance data (optional). We use Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring. They receive: which screens you open and which features you use (for example "started a timer", "added a task with a deadline", "opened the Pro screen"), with counts and settings such as timer length or task priority; crash reports and app performance (start-up time, slow screens); your device model, OS version, app version, country and language; and a random app-installation identifier. They never receive your task titles, details, links, deadlines or Jira information, and nothing is linked to your name, email or any account. We do not use your advertising identifier (IDFA / Android Advertising ID).
  • Ticket links. If you open a link saved on a task, it opens in your browser; the website you open applies its own privacy policy.

The app contains no advertising SDKs, does not use your advertising identifier, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not sell data or share it with anyone other than Google acting as our processor.

3. Usage and crash data: your choices and the legal basis

  • Turn it off: Settings → "Share usage & crash data". Collection stops immediately and the choice is remembered.
  • Why: to find and fix crashes, keep the app fast, and learn which features are worth improving. Our lawful basis under UK and EU GDPR is our legitimate interest in running and improving the app; you can object at any time with the switch above or by emailing us.
  • Who processes it: Google LLC (Firebase), as our processor, which may process it in the United States under the UK International Data Transfer Addendum / EU Standard Contractual Clauses. See firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
  • How long: analytics events are kept for 2 months; crash reports for 90 days.

4. Purchases

TaskTimer Pro and point packs are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your payment details. The store tells the app only whether a purchase succeeded, so it can unlock Pro or add points.

5. Permissions

  • Notifications — asked when you first start a timer or set a deadline, to remind you to rest, go back to focus, or that a task is due.
  • Vibration (Android) — for the optional vibration patterns.
  • Internet — for the App Store / Google Play, the optional Jira import, and the anonymous usage and crash data described above.

6. Deleting your data

  • Delete any task in the app at any time. Settings → Jira → Disconnect removes your Jira credentials.
  • Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your device. Usage and crash data is anonymous and expires automatically (see section 3). To ask us to delete it sooner, email support@kyneticsbsd.com and we will delete the analytics data for the app.

7. Children

TaskTimer is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
